Fleximus camera concept by Art Lebedev

Art Lebedev has brought out for us another novel concept, aside from the rather remarkable vision of the Transparentius.  What looks at first glance to be one of those snake reading lights is actually a bendable digital camera in the shape of a flexible body with an integrated lens that can be hooked to either a viewfinder on the end of the camera, or an attachable 3-inch LCD display unit.

Designed to take photos or videos with as few controllers as possible (particularly for those who just want to snap a few interesting shots), the incredibly versatile Fleximus camera allows “a photographer to shoot at angles never imaginable before”. Read the rest of this entry »

Laylo and Dominio – Launching of Two Kyocera Phones with Metro PCS

Kyocera announced the launch and availability of both the Laylo and Domino today with MetroPCS as the network provider.  The Laylo is a elegant slider outfitted with a concealed vanity mirror that is revealed upon sliding it open.  The Domino is a stream-lined candy-bar phone that shares a platform with the Laylo.

The Laylo is equipped with a 2.2-inch high-resolution contoured display, 1.3 megapixel camera, and a hidden vanity mirror.  The attention-grabbing Domino is outfitted with a large display, roomy keyboard, and full-bodied sound quality.  Both have WAP 2.0 browers, Bluetooth 2.0, and share the ability to run BREW-based apps, a full set of features offered by MetroPCS including news, sports, weather content as well as email access, instant messaging, contact management, and a plethora of others.

The Kyocera Laylo is priced affordably at $100 before rebate, and the Domino at $70 before rebate.

Motorola is planning three Android smartphones for China market, one for each of the three carriers in China. All these phones supports 3G network and runs the Android OS.

First of all, the MT710 is a OPhone device for China Mobile. Obviously it supports world’s biggest carrier’s TD-SCDMA 3G network. It runs the Android-based OPhone platform. Buffalo TeraStation TS-XEL/R5 NAS Server

Buffalo has introduced its latest TeraStation NAS devices in series, known as Buffalo TeraStation TS-XEL/R5. Buffalo TS-XEL/R5 TeraStation NAS device is in 2 TB, 4 TB and 6 TB of available models. It supports up to four SATA drives in RAID 0, RAID 5, RAID 5 or 10 modes.

Buffalo TeraStation NAS TS-XEL/R5 is equipped with two USB 2.0 ports and two Gigabit Ethernet ports. It is to support and strengthen the capacity of hot-swappable. Since the hot-swappable, it can replace the hard drive when the machine is still running.

It also supports Apple’s Time Machine and Active Directory integration. Buffalo TeraStation NAS TS-XEL/R5 available on the market in Japan later this month with prices from $946 (for 2 TB TS-XE2.0TL/R5), $1180 (for 4 TB TS xe4. 0TL/R5) and $1535 (for 6 to -XE6.0TL/R5 TS).

ICD Ultra Tablet Revealed

ICD has announced the “Ultra” tablet, which aims to be the smaller variant of it’s (still unreleased) “Vega” line of tablets. The Ultra is pretty much what any gadget fan would want in a tablet, with Android, Tegra processing, and a big 7″ touchscreen display.

The Ultra will be packing NVIDIA’s Tegra T20 chip which includes a processor, memory and graphics rendering all on a single die, also known as “system-on-a-chip”, which is aimed at smartphones and mobile devices, like the Ultra tablet. The Ultra will ship with Android 2.1, and buyers will have a choice as to if they want a capacitive or resistive touchscreen. Read the rest of this entry »

Hello Kitty Casio EX-Z90 Limited Edition for Korea

To celebrate the 35th year anniversary for Hello Kitty, Casio brings the Hello Kitty limited edition EXILIM EX-Z90 camera (aka Hello Kitty Casio) to the Korean market. In fact, this is the second 35th anniversary Hello Kitty camera, the first one is the EX-Z2. There is also the Hello Kitty EX-Z80.

The Hello Kitty Casio comes in Pink and Red and is decorated with crystals. It comes with a Hello Kitty camera bag as well. Like the original EX-Z90, the compact camera has 12 Megapixel sensor, 3X optical zoom, ISO up to 1600, and a 2.7-inch LCD display.

HP Mini 210 Netbook Review

HP’s upcoming Mini 210 netbooks feature Intel’s Pine Trail platform, based on the new Atom N450 CPUs running at 1.66GHz. The 10.1-inch LCDs sit behind a flush glass panel, while an integrated webcam and mic also come standard. HP ships each model with Windows 7 Starter pre-installed.

The basic model integrates 1GB of RAM and a 160GB HDD, while upgrade packages can bring the drive capacity up to 250GB. Various finish options are listed on the retailer site, including basic solid colors and several patterns. Read the rest of this entry »

Yamaha intros two-piece home theater sound system

Yamaha Electronics earlier this week launched its latest home theater audio system, the YHT-S400, meant for small living rooms. The two-piece system consists of a slim sound-bar speaker and a unique subwoofer integrated into the receiver. The HD Audio compatible system has three HDMI inputs and one output and uses Yamaha’s own Air Surround Xtreme techonology for a simulated 7-channel surround sound environment.

The sound bar is only 2 inches tall and can sit in front of most 32- to 50-inch TV sets without covering part of the screen. The speaker bar’s feet can be removed or adjusted both horizontally or vertically for more installation options. The speaker bar contains three speakers, each powered by 50W. A 5-inch subwoofer is integrated into the receiver, and gets 100W of power. The receiver also has Yamaha’s UniVolume feature built-in, which will maintain a consistent volume level between all sources, be it TV, DVD, Blu-ray, as well as during commercials. Cydle T43H and M7 Gadgets Review

Cydle has given everybody their Christmas present this year as the company has unveiled two devices that it will show case at CES. The Cydle T43H is a continuation of their line of PNDs (Personal Navigation Device aka car-mounted GPS devices), which adds new traffic features, and the M7, a new MID device

While many think that dedicated GPS units for cars are being replaced by turn-by-turn navigation apps for smartphones, Cydle comes back with a strong new PND offering. The T43H will offer built-in HD radio, as well as what they’re calling “HD traffic updates”. Read the rest of this entry »
