BenQ SQ 4321 Review

Posted by Digital Electronics On December - 29 - 2010

This TV can show moving pictures loud and clear, loud because the SQ4321 sports 2 booming speakers that can wake the dead.

It also sports the Senseye technology which takes special care of the darker parts of the videos. When turned on, it automatically brightens up the dark pixels to present an evently lit-up image.

It supports Full HD resolution and it quite ecofriendly when it comes to power consumption.

Shuttle XS35 PC Review

Posted by Digital Electronics On February - 26 - 2010

Shuttle has announced its latest SFF PC called the XS35 that will be seen at CeBIT next month.

The tiny SFF PC is only 3.3cm thick and is HD compatible. This may well be the best SFF PC Shuttle has for use as an HTPC machine in the living room. The chassis used for the XS35 is 1-liter class and has a standard VESA mount interface. That interface means you can mount the PC to the rear of a TV or LCD display.

The machine is complete, runs the Intel Atom D510 processor at 1.6GHz, and uses the NM10 Express Chipset. Graphics are handled by the NVIDIA GT218, otherwise known as the ION 2 platform. The machine has HDMI out, five USB ports, VGA out, LAN port, memory card reader, 2.5″ HDD, and an optical drive.

MSI Wind Top AE2420 Review

Posted by Digital Electronics On February - 23 - 2010

CeBIT 2010 will be available soon and MSI are tipping their hand for what pleasures they’ll have at the show.  Most interesting are the latest Wind Top all-in-ones, the 24-inch AE2420 and the 22-inch AE2280; rather than the nettop-based models we’ve seen before, these new Wind Tops will use Intel’s Core i3, i5 and i7 processors, ramping up to 3D capabilities on the top-spec machine.

The 24-inch Wind Top AE2420 has a 120Hz refresh rate and, with the appropriate dorky glasses, can show 3D visuals in 1080p resolution.  There are integrated 10W speakers, along with multitouch-capable displays.

The two new models will be on show alongside MSI’s other range of smaller all-in-ones and its Wind Box line of nettops.  No word on pricing for the AE2420 or AE2280 as yet.

BenQ 27-inch LCD Review

Posted by Digital Electronics On December - 17 - 2009

benqm2700hd-lgBenQ today took the wraps from its first 27-inch computer display. Considered a crossover display, the M2700HD has the usual computer inputs but also has twin HDMI 1.3 connectors plus component and RCA to take in traditional TV sources, such as cable boxes or game consoles. A native 1080p resolution, a 10W stereo speaker system and a remote further stress the hybrid nature of the LCD.

The panel produces a 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a 400cd/m2 brightness level. BenQ claims at least some visual accuracy with a dedicated sRGB option among the color presets for those looking to recreate a particular color range. SPDIF audio lets it work with surround sound devices, including its own speakers’ virtual surround.

Pricing isn’t available, but BenQ vows a “worldwide” release for the M2700HD this week.

Dell Optiplex 780 the smallest PC with desktop chips

Posted by Digital Electronics On December - 12 - 2009

delloptiplex780usff-lg1Dell on Thursday touted a rare approach to pro desktops with one of the smallest ever. The Optiplex 780 USFF (Ultra Small Form Factor) at 9.4 by 9.4 inches is championed as the smallest system to use primarily desktop components and only uses a 2.5-inch hard drive as its concession to size: it uses desktop processors up to a 3.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and even builds in the power brick where many other systems this size would move it to the outside.

A base configuration starts at $624 and comes with a 2.2GHz Celeron, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive running Windows 7 and Intel GMA 4500 video but also three years of on-site help.

Besides the newer design, the Optiplex 380 has been given a low-profile update that adds a new chipset with support for more processors up to the Core 2 Quad. Actual pricing remains the same at the existing $329 to $349 range depending on the choice of a desktop, mini tower or small form factor box.
