Posted by Digital Electronics On July - 15 - 2011

Motorolla Droid 3

The all-new Motorolla Droid 3 is an ample sized handset that is great for both business and pleasure. It is especially good for those that need to make a lot of conference calls as it offers a front facing camera in order to provide users with a video calling features.

The 8-mega pixel camera allows users to take quality snaps on this handset whilst on the go. The quality of this camera is almost as good as some of the digital cameras on the market today, which allows you to encase both your phone and camera in one as appose to carrying several pieces of equipment around with you. This is also a great option for those that love to share their memories with others, as these pictures can be sent to friends and family via picture text or alternatively uploaded directly onto any one of the many social networking sites. Blackberry Torch

Posted by Digital Electronics On May - 11 - 2011

Blackberry Torch
Of all the remarkable phones released in 2010 (and there were many), one does seem to stand out above all others. This is not due to the fact that it is better than the others (although many would argue that it is) and not because it is far more beautiful than its rivals; it is because the phone was such a massive departure from the phones that its manufacturers had made in the past. That is quite a big clue and I’m sure most of you will have guessed that the phone I’m writing about is the Blackberry Torch. Released by Research in Motion in the Autumn of 2010, the Blackberry Torch went to battle with giants like the iPhone 4, the Samsung Galaxy S and many others, and performed admirably. This is in no small part due to the fact that the Torch was part of a large remodel by RIM as they attempted to attract the attention of consumers rather than their usual business minded customers. Samsung Galaxy Apollo I5801

Posted by Digital Electronics On January - 16 - 2011

Samsung Galaxy Apollo I5801The Apollo has an LCD screen of 240X400 resolution instead of AMOLED display and runs Android 2.1.

Snaps from the 3 megapixel camera are average for a phone but the lack of a flash dooms low-light shot.

Video can only be captured at 320X240, which is barely good enough for posting to YouTube.

Battery life is good, although it’s highly dependent on your use of WiFi, 3G data and GPS. Apollo I5801 supports up to 7.2 hours of talk-time.

Samsung Nexus S is the New Google Phone

Posted by Digital Electronics On November - 26 - 2010

Samsung Nexus SThe successor to the much popular Google Nexus One seems to have finally arrived, although not officially. The phone, which will be called as the Google Nexus S has been recently revealed by the CEO of Google at a recent meet. Even though he has failed to reveal any details about this phone, it has already been speculated that it could be the most powerful phone yet.

The Google Nexus S apart from being tagged as one of the most powerful phones, it also has another huge ace up its sleeve as it is the first phone to be sporting the latest version of the popular Android operating system. This phone will be running on the Android 2.3 or Gingerbread operating system. Unlike most of the other Android phones, this phone will not be using the traditional user interface method that is used to show the Android operating system. However, this phone will be sporting the raw operating system in its full glory. Read the rest of this entry »

RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800

Posted by Digital Electronics On October - 6 - 2010

RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800The company’s first  touchscreen/keyboard handset, the RESEARCH in MOTION’S BlackBerry Torch 9800, sports the new BlackBerry 6 OS.

A little thicker than some other top phones out now, the Torch measures 4.4 by 2.4 by 0.6 inches and weighs a manageable 5.68 ounces.

The 3.2inch, 360by480 capacitive touchscreen is fine for browsing the Web, but the colors, text, and detail look slightly flat.

The hardware keyboard slides smoothly and easily.  The Torch also has a software keyboard, but in both portrait and landscape modes it feels cramped. Test shows that the Web browser is slow to load, especially at mediaheavy sites. The handset’s 624mHz processor just can’t seem to handle the new WebKitbased browser technology.

The Torch’s 5 megapixel camera has autofocus, a 2X zoom, and an LED flash and the image quality was better from older BlackBerrys.

BlackBerry Bold 9700

Posted by Digital Electronics On October - 6 - 2010

BlackBerry Bold 9700The latest BlackBerry Bold doesn’t look much different to previous models, with its full QWERTY keypad and leather back. Under the hood, however, it has a faster processor.

The screen’s resolution has gone up, too, and with a 480×360 pixels packed into only 2.4in of space, text and images are clear and sharp.
There’s now an optical trackpad, which is responsive, The keypad is narrower than before, but it’s just as usable, with moulded keys that have excellent feedback.

The interface has changed, too. Rather than a full screen of icons, the first thing you see is an attractive background, with a single row of icons at the bottom of the screen. Pressing the BlackBerry button shows a list of all your apps, and acts as the menu key once in an app. Read the rest of this entry »

Nexus One

Posted by Digital Electronics On October - 4 - 2010

Nexus OneGoogle’s smartphone is remarkably similar to the HTC Desire, which is no coincidence as both phones are made by HTC. They share the same basic specification, though, the Nexus One has a different design and uses the basic Android operating system, without HTC’s Sense interface.

That’s not to diminish Android’s built-in software: there’s support in version 2.1 for multiple Gmail and Microsoft Exchange accounts, and all the basic apps are there for email, contacts, calendar and messaging. Google Maps Navigation provides free turn-by-turn navigation in a clear interface.
Like the Desire, the Nexus One’s screen is gorgeous, although not quite as bright and colourful as Samsung’s AMOLED screens. Read the rest of this entry »

Acer E400 Smartphone Reviews

Posted by Digital Electronics On August - 18 - 2010

Acer E400

Acer’s beTouch E400 is a slim and elegant Android phone with a 3.2in touchscreen. It has touch-sensitive buttons below the screen, which makes the fascia a flat, glossy surface.
It comes with Android 2.1 and Acer has added a few tweaks and apps of its own. The most useful of these is a copy of Documents To Co, which lets you view Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents.
There’s also a copy of Twidroid, a well-known Twitter client, a music streaming app called Spinlets, and the NemoPlayer media player. The latter will address the concerns of those who find Android’s built-in media player too basic, while Spinlets is more of a music discovery app, letting you sample music.
