Intel X25-V Value SSD

Posted by Digital Electronics On March - 16 - 2010

Intel’s new 40GB X25-V Value SATA SSD is now available at $125. Significantly, it is  lower than the company have been charging for their previous ones.

The biggest issue is capacity as the X25-M only packs 40GB of storage, which I think is low no matter whether you’re looking at netbooks or anything bigger.Intel are positioning it more as a dualboot drive, with the expectation that users will keep the SSD for the OS and core applications and then store their data on a larger HDD.

In fact, they reckon if you did that – with Windows 7, Office and a game – you could see up to 43-percent faster overall system performance or an 86-percent improvement in gaming experience.

MSI Wind Netbook Review

Posted by Digital Electronics On December - 22 - 2009

MSI provided early details of its first Wind netbooks running on Intel’s Pine Trail platform. The U130 and U135 both update to the 1.66GHz Atom and should get about 15 percent more battery life than previous Winds. They also get a minor aesthetic boost with touches such as a new trackpad.

Differences between the two are relatively minor and depend on storage and networking. Both have 10-inch displays and the same processor, but the U130 is similar to most netbooks with a 160GB hard drive and options of black or white colors; the U135 upgrades to a 250GB drive and color choices like blue, red and silver. Certain models should also have cellular broadband.

MSI should put these models on sale in January, likely from the 4th, and should be priced at about $350 for the U130 and $450 for the U135. More advanced U140 and U160 models are also believed enroute but haven’t been confirmed.
