Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (WNDR3700)

Posted by Digital Electronics On April - 24 - 2011

Netgear N600A simple setup process, a strong feature set, and excellent throughput make for a killer combination for the Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (WNDR3700). It will appeal to tech-savvy home users and business IT types alike.

The N600 is a dual-band router with a maximum theoretical throughput of 300 Mbps. In real-world usage, if a wireless router can achieve half its theoretical throughput, that’s superb performance. The N600 comes closer than any router we have tested to that level of throughput in bench¬mark results, hitting a maximum throughput of 121 Mbps. That excellent signal also remained fairly steady whether testing right next to or 30 feet away from the router. Read the rest of this entry »

The Novatel MiFi 2200

Posted by Digital Electronics On December - 23 - 2010

Novatel MiFi 2200
The MiFi 2200 is a compact device, weighing 2 ounces and measuring 3.5 x 2.3 x 0.4 inches. It has a single power on/off button, and its faux metal front goes well with any mobile Apple product. It connects wirelessly with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices. You don’t need it with a 3G-enabled iPhone, but MiFi will bring broadband Internet connectivity to your iPod touch, a non-3G iPad, and other non-3G devices. You can even create a mini-LAN and piggyback off the MiFi’s 3G connection.

Setting up MiFi is straightforward: On your iPad or other WiFi device, go to your network/wireless settings and enter the SSID of the unit and the password. My unit had that information on a sticker on the bottom, but the SSID was wrong. Fortunately, my iPad found the correct SSID when it did a search, and within seconds, I was connected and back in business. Read the rest of this entry »

OO wireless projector concept Review

Posted by Digital Electronics On March - 10 - 2010

The projector uses a semi monocoque carbon fiber chassis and is designed by David Riesenberg. The designer says the projector throws a 1080p image sent to it via WiFi or from an internal SSD. The wireless bit is very cool because you could place it in your home without worrying about how you will get the HDMI cable to it.

The projector also sports some sort of internal battery that lets it work without an AC cord for up to three hours. Three adjustable legs are built-in to allow adjustment of the image. The OO certainly looks sexy.

TRENDnet TEW-691GR 802.11n

The router operates on the 2.4GHz spectrum and uses three spatial streams per antenna to hit the 450Mbps max. Normal 802.11n routers have a maximum speed of 300Mbps. Wireless coverage is boosted with MIMO tech and the router has a Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit Ethernet ports for local computers.

Security is a big feature with the router as well with encryption and a firewall to protect the network. Traffic needing bandwidth is prioritized by the router with QoS technology. Wi-Fi Protected Setup makes it easy to setup a connection with supported wireless adapters with the press of a button on the adapter and the router.
